Aslkm, really a very nice , politely illustrated article & mingling these natural processes with islamic insight is very appreciable. i think parents (mom & dad) both must have a very balanced understanding for their growing kids...though girl or boy. coz adolescence is natural for both gender and both need a clear step by step guidence. may allah give you n your team more knowledge & strength.

wow, jazak'Allah for this interesting information, even though i am not a mother (only 16 years old) this is still very useful, i happened to come across this because i was hoping to find out what a muslimah can do to still keep in touch with Allah because reading Salah and the Qu'ran isnt allowed and i did find this answer, this was very helful, shukran sister xxx

Shukran sister, a needed read. My daughter is 10 and has started her period, unfortunately she is alone in her trauma - none of her friends have. I am doing the best I can, but I know she is overwhelmed. Now, if there was a reading for fathers? My husband thinks it's a simple and easy situation and she should just "get over it".

I'm Christian turned into Muslim my mom she gave my sisters bra's they never asked but I want to get a bra I'm need change cause area is big training bra doesn't help how do I ask my mom for a bra

@jannah May Allah help you in this really tough situation. It is hard for mothers let alone an older sister. Do you have a youth group at your local masjid. otherwise this is a Muslim youth hotline where they have counselors who ar trained in talking to youth. 1-866-NASEEHA Their lines are open from 6 - 9 pm, Monday to Friday (Eastern Standard Time) If she was my daughter I would figure out what time she spent with those kids and would schedule another activity to distract her from hanging out with them. Make it an activity she enjoys. At this phase in life kids' moral compasses shift from family to friends and its our job to displace the friends without letting them know that's what we are doing.

Asalamu alaykum sister n thanks for this wonderful article. I have a bit of a problem which I need help on. I'm 19 n acting as both sister n mom to my 13 year old sister. c recenly had her period n I got the responsibility of telling ha everything n it feels reali awkward for me cos sometimes along the way we get into a fight i'm not very patient at times n she gets into very bad moods. Allah knows I love my sister very much but it feels reali weird n sometimes I don't know where to start or wat to tell ha n c's mingling with some kids who aren't helping alot on the matters of deen cos they r always wit boys. pleeeeeease help. wat can I do. P.S:I know u must be wondering where on earth our mom is? BUT TO CUT A LONG STORY SHORT WE DON'T STAY WITH HA N D PEOPLE WE STAY WITH DON'T REALY TALK TO US BOUT ANYTHING BUT ALL THE SAME ALLAH HAS BEEN REALI GOOD TO ME COS HE HAS ENDOWED ME WITH THE LOVE OF DEEN N KNOWLEDGE.

Excellent post. My 9 yr old has asked me few questions and I have already started talking to her about body changes and menstruation. I want her to hear it from me first. I told her she should feel free to ask me any questions and would try to answer them according to her age. It's still *weird* talking about it but am trying to be her first teacher inshallah. Keep more information coming!!
