sam, yes, Allah does know best. So it would have been a good idea if you had consulted HIS sources instead of your own before publishing your post. And the best source Allah has given us after the Qur'an is the Sunnah. Instead of getting into a lengthy rebuttal of the information you posted, which is at best "misleading"--(the least of which is the obvious fact that even if all the historical info you posted is true, it makes no difference whatsoever in this discussion b/c... err...even IF the niqaab had a history before Islam, GOD also had a history before "Islam"...so does worshiping HIM have any less validity due to this fact?)--But I'll say this: If the niqab is "not religiously permissible" then the ones who fell into the greatest sin in this respect were the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and nearly all the female companions. But then again, according the sources who teach what are attempting to teach here, ALL of the first generation of Muslims(most notably the Prophet himself) are at the root of extremism--in religion and Islam. May Allah guide us.

Mohammed Sayed al-Tantawi, one of the most senior legal scholars in Islam,declared that a veil that covers a woman's face leaving only a slit for the eyes is not religiously permissible and describes the niqab as a tradition from a pre-Islamic era.Sumerian temple priestesses wore veils in 5000 B.C. In 1300 B.C., Assyrian kings introduced the veil for married and wealthy women. This is similar to the Byzantines (4th to 5th centuries A.D.), the Sassanids (c. 224-652 A.D.), in Ancient Greece and old Rome, where to be veiled was a privilege reserved for high society.It has nothing to do with Islam introduced by the extreme Wahabi sect.The prophet (peace be upon him)advocated the middle way of tolerance and moderation.Hijab is a must not niqab.Allah knows best.

Really? Have you seen most of the girls who cover only their head? Their clothes are so tight, it almost looks as if they were sprayed on! And it’s a wonderful way of giving da’wah too!

OMG, this is absolutely absurd!!! I seriously can't believe people sometimes. May Allah give us all hidayah. I've been a niqabi for a few years now and just started college this fall and joined the MSA. I was actually thinking about suggesting that events be separate for both the sexes, but I'm not really sure how people will take that, and reading this article just now, I'm not even sure if I should suggest it...

The sad part was the sister with the Niqaab had a good way to present the Naseehah, BY OFFERING ALTERNATIVES!! she wrote down ideas like playing anasheed instead of Music or having seperate potluck dinners instead of a super-socializing event with both genders.... SubhanAllah... I loved that story, so well written masha'Allah.

oh and the MSA, subhan-Allah.. i have no comment but if they actually did this to you, than why do they even consider them-selves good musliums who are trying to give da3waha?????????
i havent been to the misjid yet but i did receive an email from one good freind congratliting me, but tomo is friday and i usually go to the lectures on friday night so inshallah i wouldnt be judged by comments like” you dont have to wear it, your in America OMG?”
btw, on my second day of wearing the niqab, after i parked my car in the garage, a muslium sister actually parked next to me, subhan-Allah and we both got out of our car the same time, and we know each other,, so i was like

subhan allah, she didnt have the guts to walk with me and both of our classes were next to each other wallahi..
i felt so bad because shes muslim, and wearing the Hijab. its not even conservative clothing but inshallah may allah direct her to the right path…
but i do see your point of how we musliums can discourage each other but trust me, ther is still good peopel out there who will support you….

i just wanted to share this with the sisters here…
Im new with Niqab… but i want to keep it on…
